Geelong Orthotics is a Geelong owned and operated company providing a service for both private and public patients. Geelong Orthotics was established in September 1997 to undertake the role as the provider of the orthotic service for Barwon Health.
Geelong Orthotics has an established referral base in the private sector.

Barwon Health - The Geelong Hospital (388 beds) serves a population of 220,000 for acute health care and a community of up to 450,000 in the Barwon South-western region.

Geelong Orthotics strives to provide a comprehensive orthotic service to the people of the Geelong and surrounding community. Pride is taken in providing a quality orthotic service and to stay at the forefront of orthotic technology and advances.

A team of dedicated staff members in Clinical, Technical and Clerical areas has proved Geelong Orthotics is committed to providing a quality orthotic service with the highest level of customer service.

Our new purpose designed premises at 70 Bellerine St, has clinical and manufacturing facilities on site that ensures patients receive a cost-effective and quality orthotic service. Office hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday, with a hospital-home service and after hours service when requested.

Definitions:
Orthotist: An Allied Health professional who is trained in assessing, measuring and fitting the appropriate orthosis that best serves the individuals requirements. Education is provided regarding the use and care of the orthosis. Orthotists in Australia are awarded a Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics after studying clinical and technical subjects including biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, social sciences and materials technology.

Orthoses: Extrinsic appliances (Braces or Splints) designed to support, align protect or correct deformities or to improve the function of movable parts of the body.

Orthoses' are prescribed to achieve:
Protect joints, limbs
Immobilization
Restrict Range of motion (ROM)
Correct biomechanical abnormalities
Accommodate deformities
Rehabilitate from injury/surgery
Maintain/reduce deformity progression
