Ben McMurtrie

Orthotist, Director

With a love for working and helping people and manufacturing, the orthotic profession was an ideal career. Ben graduated in 1989 and began working at the Geelong Hospital in 1992. Ben started Geelong Orthotics in 1997 and has been contracting orthotic services to Barwon Health since then. Ben has a particular interest in sports and paediatric orthotic management. He was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 2002 which took him to the USA, England and Europe to investigate current orthotic techniques for managing Paediatric Cerebral Palsy. Ben finds a growing and dynamic profession with new innovations and options for managing conditions rewarding.  Ben loves living with his family on the surf coast, surfing, mountain bike riding, music and trying to learn guitar in spare time.

Christopher Doak

Senior Orthotist 2IC

Chris graduated from La Trobe University in 2006 and has worked in private and public sectors in Australia and the UK. Chris has an interest in paediatric orthotic management and management of the complex diabetic foot. Chris was drawn to Prosthetics and Orthotics as it combined health sciences with creative design and manufacturing. Chris is kept busy with a growing family and enjoys travel and woodworking in his spare time.

Melinda Solly

Senior Orthotist 

Melinda graduated in 1993, and has worked in the field of Orthotics for 25 years and at Geelong Orthotics for the last 18 years. An interest in the Health Sciences and a love of creating with her hands has steered Melinda into the Orthotic and Prosthetic profession. Melinda embraces new challenges which keep her interest levels high and she finds helping people very rewarding. Melinda has specialised in the management of Compression Therapy and Paediatric orthotic management. 
Other interests are based around a growing family, keeping fit and works part-time creating ceramic pieces for Fragility Ceramics.

Erin Keating

Orthotist

Erin graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics in 2004. A love of making things and interacting with people led Erin into this unique profession. Within her many years working as an Orthotist Erin has worked across major public hospitals in both Adelaide, Melbourne and now Geelong. It is within these hospital settings Erin was able to specialise and develop her skills in the area of Diabetic High Risk Foot management. Erin enjoys the constant challenges this area of work can bring, using each individual case to expand her knowledge. Outside of work Erin enjoys spending time with her young family and getting down to the beach as often as she can.

Simon Locke

Technician

Simon has interests in both art and technology . Working in the health industry for years and manufacturing of carbon products has lead me to Geelong Orthotics . Taking pride in his work and having high standards of workmanship are his key attributes. Outside of work Simon enjoys cycling, sewing , art and spending quality time with his family.

Sue McMurtrie

Practice Manager, Director

Sue has been working on the business from home for the last 14 years. In 2014 Sue has been in the office managing the administration and human resources. Sue has 3 children which keeps her busy but when she has time she has interests in outdoor activities including mountain bike riding, exercising, camping and going to the beach. She is an avid reader and enjoys the ballet and theatre and is a loyal CATs supporter.

Lynette Matulich

Administration Manager

Lynette began working at Geelong Orthotics in 2003 before returning to study. After completing a Certificate IV in Management and a Diploma in Beauty Therapy Lynette returned to Geelong Orthotics in 2006. Lynette keeps fit and active by running and going to the gym and has as a love for fine food/wine, travel, socialising and arthouse movies.

Megan Paton

Receptionist

Megan began working for Geelong Orthotics in June 2016 after returning from 10 years living in Western Australia where she worked in the Plumbing/Building Industry. Megan enjoys watching AFL, Walking, Cycling, Reading and going to the Movies.

Heather Jennings

Footwear Manager, Pedorthist

Heather has a Degree in Management and has qualified as a Certified Retail Pedorthist. After working for many years in retail management, Heather joined our team at Extra Depth Footwear at the start of 2014 and has enjoyed running external clinics in Warrnambool and Ballarat.  Heather enjoys spending time with her family and keeping fit.

Megumi Carter

Footwear

Megumi has qualifications and has worked in orthotics in her native Japan as well as completing a degree at La Trobe University prior to joining Extra Depth Footwear in 2012.  Megumi enjoys forging lasting relationships with her clients and prides herself on the quality of her service.  Away from work Megumi keeps busy spending time with family, traveling , cooking and eating out.

Angela Shore

Footwear

Angela has been a Footwear Specialist for the past 12 years, joining the Extra Depth Footwear team in 2016. Angela finds working with Medical Grade footwear very rewarding and loves a challenge.  
Reading, listening to music and sewing are a few of the things Angela enjoys.

All orthotists are members of our professional administration body the Australian Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA). 
We participate in AOPA's professional development program. Our orthotists are annually awarded the title of CO (Certified Orthotist).
