Young Cat Hero Will being fitted for a Kidney guard

A Front Page article in the Geelong Independent in May featured young aspiring footballer Will McGinness being fitted with a Lonergan Kidney guard by Orthotist Melinda Solly.

It has always been a concern that keen sports people think they are now “bullet proof” with the brace on. Not unlike the sports people who we fit with functional knee braces, particularly the Motocross riders, the X-Games extreme sports dudes! We always ensure patients understand that although the brace will provide some protection it does in no uncertain terms mean they cannot be re-injured from a high impact collision and the potential risk should be considered.
